PROJECT DESCRIPTION

PACER Consultants and P.R.C. Harris were assigned the job of rehabilitation of Port Said Port. To determine the integrated port capacity for all other ports in Egypt, it was essential to determine the strategy of the whole system of ports. The study was based on forecasting exports and imports by group of commodities (40 groups) moving to and from eight regions through seven ports in Egypt (Mersa Matrouh, Alexandria, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez and Safaga).

The study considered that the commodities will flow between Egyptian ports, main European ports, American ports (north flow), Australian, Asian ports (south flow).

The objectives of the study were:

Determination of the optimum capacity of each existing port
The need of new ports
