Improve Wave and Navigation Conditions Tajura Fishing Port, Libya
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The study aims to improve navigation conditions and wave disturbance inside and at entrance of the harbor to cope with limited values needed for safe entrance and berthing of fishing ships in addition to control sediment transport that reaches the navigable channel and management plan.
PACER Consultants’ scope of work included:
Application of numerical models to get the wave distribution at the navigable channel entrance and at the outer and inner basins of the harborApply a mathematical circulation model to ensure the proper water circulation inside the basin and check the effect of dredging a channel to connect the inner basin to the outer basin to reach acceptable residence time of water
Apply a sediment transport model to get the quantity of sediments and the dredging requirements
Propose a management program for the control and collection of sea weeds using proper equipment
Design of final layout including landscaping, water supply, sewer network, internal roads and lighting
Design of service buildings including mosque, police office, refrigeration building, workshop and treatment building
