Master Planning and Infrastructure, Damietta Port
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
PACER provided Master planning and infrastructure including the development of a computer model for import and export to determine the cargo movement till year 2000.
The study of the National Port Policy of Egypt, carried out by PACER Consultants and PRC Harris revealed the need of a new port on the eastern part of Egypt. Study of candidate locations indicated that the best location for the development of the new port is Damietta.
The Ministry of Reclamation and New Communities awarded PACER and P.R. Harris, the job of planning and infrastructure development of Damietta Port.
The master plan included the development of a computer model for import and export of cargo and determination of their movement so as to limit the cost of transportation to the minimum.
