Study and Redesign of Breakwater and West Basin of ZRIG Fishing Port, Libya
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Zrig fishing harbor is located on the libyan coastline at 30 km west of Misurata. The breakwater of Zrig fishing port was designed using natural rocks for main armor layers facing the sea waves. Most of the natural blocks used are of one gradation i.e. (7-10 ton), this weight of armor is difficult to be available in the limited time of construction. Therefore the general authorities for maritime wealth requested the consultant to redesign the breakwater using concrete blocks and they recommended Accropode Type Blocks for this purpose.
PACER Consultants’ scope of work included:
Redesign the main layer of break water cross sections to be Accropods layer instant of natural stone (5.0-10.0) tonsRedesign the filter layer according change of main layer design
Design a service road 4.0 m width above break water
Design of west internal basin of quay wall for small vessels
